After eight long weeks, the trial of Gallion and Cunningham ended in a mistrial due to a deadlocked jury. Their partner, Melbourne Mills, was acquitted before the jury became stuck on the charges against the former two. All three attorneys were accused of stealing $65 million dollars from the $200 million dollar lawsuit filed by their clients, people who suffered heart damage after taking the diet drug Fen-Phen.
A second indictment, called a superseding indictment, may be filed against the two. Additionally, Assitant US Attorney Laura Vorhees has said that the two attorneys may face additional charges. She has not gone into further detail.
