Teva gets FDA Approval for Pulmonary Hypertension

April 29th, 2008 · No Comments

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries announced that the Federal Food and Drug Administration approved their new drug application for a generic pulmonary hypertension drug.   Teva’s drug, Epoprostenol, is a version of GlaxoSmithKline’s Flolan for Injection.  Although the drug will not cure pulmonary hypertension, it will help improve the symptoms and quality of life for patients.

During the last twelve months, GlaxoSmithKline’s product sales reached about $80 million.  Israel based company Teva hopes to tap into this market and lower costs for patients with pulmonary hypertension with their generic drug.

Primary pulmonary hypertension is a serious and rare disease, often resulting from diet drug use such as Fen-phen or Redux.  If you suffer from this illness, contact the experienced attorneys of Williams Kherker today at 866.950.9000 to discuss your legal options.
