Lannett Inc, a pharmaceutical company, has received approval from the FDA to go ahead and market Phentermine Hydrochloride. They received approval via their Abbreviated New Drug Application.
Phentermine Hydrochloride is intended to be a treatment option in the battle against obesity. Lannett hopes to begin selling their product as soon as possible.
Phentermine is by no means a new drug. It originally had approval in the 1950s and was part of the recalled diet drug fen-phen. Fen-phen was recalled after it was linked to Primary Pulmonary Hypertension.
